What is Microsoft Teams?

- [Instructor] Welcome to Microsoft Teams Bot Development. My name is Sahil Malik and let me first start by introducing you to what Microsoft Teams is. Well, it's a part of Office 365. It is a first grade application inside Office 365 like Word, Excel, PowerPoint. It looks like Microsoft is positioning this product to replace Skype for Business. This is probably going to be a multi year transition whether or not it will completely replace it time will tell. But for sure, it looks like a big investment area for Microsoft. Next is chats, calls and meetings. And a lot of people seem to compare this product with another product called Slack. I think you'll soon see why Teams is actually slightly different than Slack even though it is in some ways quite similar as well. I think the main difference between Slack and Teams is that it is completely integrated with Office 365. So, when you are interacting in Teams all of that information makes your Dell searches more valuable. When you upload a document in Teams it goes into a SharePoint site. And yes, it is connected with groups for instance and there is a concept there called Channels. I'll show all of these in a moment. There's a very good dev story behind Teams. So, this is part of what we'll be talking about but I'll be talking about a section of the dev story called as bots. And yes, like anything Office 365 it works with two-factor auth and every enterprise capability you can imagine. And Teams is available on every major platform we know of. So, there's a developer site of Teams. Before I dive into that, let me first go to this interactive demo for Teams that Microsoft has put together for us and let's try and understand some basic concepts around Microsoft Teams.
