Exam objectives, preparation tips, and registration process

- [Instructor] Let's talk about how to prepare for the MOS exam. First of all, what should you study? We have included the MOS exam objectives for Outlook in your Chapter One folder. Let's take a look at that document. Here's a list of the MOS objectives you'll need to study for the exam. The videos in this course correspond to these objectives. Please refer back to the objectives frequently to be sure that you are comfortable with and understand each objective that may be on the exam. What else should you study? Watch the videos and complete the challenges at the end of each chapter. We've created challenge exercises that will reinforce the skills you've learned in each of the videos. We've also allotted a certain amount of time for completion of each challenge exercise. Be sure you can complete the challenge exercises in that amount of time. If you're having trouble with the time limit, you might check back and watch the video again and then try the challenge again. You can also watch the solution video to see how I completed the challenge. Next, practice on your own. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to continue to practice. Microsoft recommends approximately 150 hours of instruction and hands-on experience with Outlook before taking the exam. Then complete the final challenge exercise at the very end of this video series. We've created a practice Outlook 2019 exam that emulates the official exam. Finally, practice some more. Let's talk about the exam format and timing. The time allotment is 50 minutes, but you should be able to complete the Outlook 2019 MOS exam in 40 minutes or less. This will give you 10 minutes to go back and check your work and complete any tasks that you skipped. The exam will contain 40 to 50 tasks. At the end of the exam, you will immediately see a score report indicating whether you passed. To pass, you need a score of at least 700 out of 1,000 possible points. When you pass, you'll receive an official certificate in the mail from Microsoft. Hang on to this certificate, frame it, and display it proudly. Next, I want to give you information about purchasing vouchers. If you register at certiport.com, you'll be able to buy vouchers, locate testing centers, and find additional resources. You can also log into this website later to view your transcript. Let's take a look at their website. This is the Certiport homepage. Notice at the top, you can register as a testing candidate. You can also purchase vouchers and locate testing centers. I'll click the Buy menu, choose Individual purchaser. To purchase a voucher, you can click Shop Certiport USA. At the left-hand side, you can click on Microsoft and then MOS exam vouchers. Currently, exam vouchers are $100, and exam vouchers with retakes are $120. It's a good value, because if you don't pass the first time, you can retake at no additional cost within 30 days. Next, let's take a look at how to find a testing center. I'll close this tab in my browser to return to the main page. Next, I'll click support for test candidates. You'll click the link that says Certiport Authorized Test Center Locator to find a test center near you. This allows you to search by location and also by the type of certification you'd like to achieve. After finding a testing center, you'll want to to schedule your exam. You may be able to do this online, or you may need to call the testing center to schedule your exam. My final words of wisdom are show up early and bring your photo ID. It will be required to take your exam.
