Sending or receiving email manually

- When you connect to an exchange server or Office 365, you'll receive email in your inbox as soon as it hits the mail server. However, if your mail is connected by a POP3 or IMAP, it will have a designated interval to sync or download your messages. I'll show you how to change that interval in a few moments. But you can also make sure Outlook has remained in sync with the mail server by looking at the status bar on the bottom right-hand side of the screen. If you have more than one email account, be sure you've highlighted any item in the correct account on the left-hand side first, then you can look at the status. You can also force a send and receive at any time manually, by clicking the Send / Receive button on the top left-hand side of the screen. You can also click the Send / Receive tab, and select Send / Receive All Folders. If you're traveling, you can also take your account offline. This is useful when you're traveling and you want to catch up on correspondence and not worry…
