- [Instructor] Eclipse PDT is a feature rich PHP IDE, which is an extension of the eclipse platform providing specialized tools for PHP development. It is free and open source. You can get the IDE either by updating an existing installation of eclipse, or by downloading the full eclipse PDT package. When you first use eclipse PDT, you'll be shown the welcome screen. And it's well worth checking out some of the items on the screen. For example, if you review your IDE configuration settings, then you have the opportunity right from the beginning to set some settings that you're going to use for your development. So for example, do you want to refresh your resources automatically? Do you want to show your line numbers? Or are these things to kind of get the initial set up the way you want it?
