PhpStorm potential drawbacks
- [Narrator] PhpStorm is a fantastic IDE. However, it does have some potential drawbacks for some. The price can be a disadvantage for some. Since they use a subscription-based licensing model, it's not a case of making a one off payment, but you need to make ongoing payments. Another potential issue is resource usage. So on some older machines particularly, there can be some issues with the amount of memory that PhpStorm needs. One way to help with this is to go into the help menu, go to your memory settings and then you can manually allocate different amounts of memory for Php's sold use. Okay. Which may help you to get around some of the performance problems. However, I've found on older machines that it can take a long time for PhpStorm to get up and running, and every now and then it cuts out and freezes, but on a more modern machine, there's no problem whatsoever.
