Getting started with an outline
An outline is a great way to make sure that everyone has seen the same thing as the script develops. That said, not everyone writes an outline prior to writing the script, or at least not everyone shows his or her outline to anyone. In this movie, we're going to assume that an outline is an expected part of the process. So when you're writing your outline, you basically want to start with the general information before you get into the specific purposes of the video. There's an old saying in journalism. Tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them, and tell them what you told them. This is the journalistic approach to the three act story telling structure. One of the things we don't include in an outline is narration, or even dialog, rather we paraphrase what the dialog exchange will be. But we don't put the actual narration or the dialog in there, because then it would be the script, and this is the outline. We just describe what is happening in terms of action. And therefore,…
