Converting text to shapes for editing
- [Narrator] Why convert text to shapes? One word, flexibility. What you lose in text editing capability, you'll gain in creative refinement. Having said that, it is critical to always first save your file in painters RIF format before converting to shapes. This will provide a backup editable text version of the file. Now let's get in shape. So this file already is in RIF format. And that means I can go ahead and work on it now, and change it into shapes. One of the things I want to do here is I'm just going to turn this off to make things a little easier to see. And I'm also going to zoom up so you can see this a little better. And in order to change this, I just need to go in here and select in this case the Sonoma Vineyard text, and if we go into the layers pallets options menu, I can convert text to shapes. And boom it's done that fast. So what's happened is that's what a text of something looks like as an individual layer. But now we've got each one of these is actually a shape…
