- [Instructor] Now that you've seen, conceptually, how I'm going to layer these, let's go ahead and actually do it. So I'm going to move to the original photograph and what I want to begin with is using the polygonal selection tool. Okay so polygonal selection tool if you don't see it it hides underneath the lasso tool so you need to click then go over and select it and then you'll be over in the polygonal selection tool. So let's go ahead and I'm going to make a new layer and you want to be sure that preserve transparency is turned off because throughout this you kind of turn it off and on for different things and it's easy to forget if it's on or off so always check that. Let's go ahead we'll take this and I'm just going to use this angle here to kind of guide me and I'm going to start with a kind of mid level gray so I want to take this all the way down to no saturation and I'm going to fill this, command or control F return.
