Distressing the art
- Our goal in this movie is to convert the photographic monarch to a graphic representation. We'll use the Distress Filter to reduce the butterfly to a simplified black and white version, much like a decorative craft stamp. Let's get started. So, what we're going to do here is actually just simplify this whole thing by using the Distress Filter, which you'll find in the Surface Control, Distress. And when it comes up, it kind of shows you what's going to happen, here. And the way I start with this, is I turn all of these down. Which will not result in much. But then I can start to play with these. Now, for this, you don't need to deal with Edge Size or Edge Amount. We're just going to deal with Smoothing, and Variance, and Threshold. Threshold is the real key here, as you turn this up, you'll see it starts to select more and more of the darker, luminance values in the image. And you can continue to turn it up 'til it completely, basically, fills it. So we don't want to do that. We…
