Funnel a photo through your brush

In the previous chapter, we looked at a digital painting technique I refer to as dipping a paintbrush into a photograph. In this chapter, we're going to look at another advanced technique that I described as funneling a photograph through a brush. Unlike the previous dipping technique, in which a dry brush interacts with the underlying photo imagery, funneling, which is essentially a form of cloning, locally samples the source photo and feeds the color through the expressive characteristics of the brush. And like the dipping technique, funneling enables you to concentrate exclusively on the expressive quality of your digital paint strokes. Now, let's funnel ourselves into this chapter.
