- [Narrator] The express gradient filter is very powerful, save for one workflow interrupting road bump. We'll get to that in the video, but if you'll first take a patience pill, I'll show you that you can produce creative results. Let's get started. So this is the gradient we created in the last movie, to replace the cloudy sky with just a clear sky. And I'm going to utilize this one to emphasize to you how I had mentioned before that the luminance in an image is essentially the same as a black and white photo. So for our first gradient that we're going to express, let's go in here and edit this. And I'm going to take this one end of the gradient and I'm going to make it white. And we'll go down here to the other end and we'll make it black. And say okay. Now let's go back up here and say express an image. And sure enough, look what's happened. It's replaced the luminance values with this gradient, which happens to be black and white. So what do you get? A black and white photograph.…
