A great way to explore brush qualities
Consider abstract painting as a raw display of inner emotions written large upon your digital canvas. The goal is to push subject matter to the side or at least devalue its important to the composition. This approach minimizes many of the usual fears associated with representational subject matter, correct proportions, shading, lighting, neatness, and so on. So, let's go ahead and get messy. Now the first thing I'm going to do is, I'm going to pick a color other than white, just to give me sort of a beginning point to bounce off of. And I'm going to use just a mid tone, slightly shaded gray here. So let's go ahead and fill our canvas. And the next thing I'm going to do and this is something that I recommend you always do is start building up layers. If you start drawing on the canvas, you're stuck with what's there.
