- So now that we've been through the testing procedures, I want to move on and show you how to start making the edits that will make the prints a little bit more interesting. The first and simplest edit you can make is actually cropping the image. I know I mentioned earlier that I always like to print the full frame, but that may not necessarily be to your taste, and there's nothing wrong with cropping. In examining the contact sheet we made earlier, I noticed this one image here that I think would work very well. It's a view of Mammoth Hot Springs through the trees. The one problem with it as an image is I feel like the left side of the frame is kind of extraneous detail. I really like the way the spring is framed by the trees, but I don't think the other part is important. So what I'm gonna do to get started, I've pulled that negative out of the sleeve, and I'm gonna line it up in the carrier, blow the dust off... and slide it in here and kinda just pull it into rough focus.
