Single-filter test print

- In this movie, I want to demonstrate single-filter printing with a test print, but while we go through this, I'm going to take a little extra time to run you through the steps of preparation as far as the negative and the enlarger. Bear with me if this is a review. For those of you, "Oh, this is new material," thank me later. First, we've got the negative carrier and I've placed the negative in the carrier. Typically, when I'm doing this in the darkroom, too, I'll use the enlarger lamp as a light source to help me precisely align a negative within the carrier. Remember, in this particular carrier, these pegs have slots in the side, and the negative needs to slide into those slots. If it's sitting atop the pegs, when you close the carrier, you will actually buckle your film and you may damage it. Depending on what carrier type you have or an enlarger type you have, be aware that, that may be an issue. You always want to place the negative in the carrier emulsion side down. That means…
