Choosing the right fabric for your backdrop

- When it comes to DIY photography, the fabric store can be an absolute treasure trove. Chances are you're going to need to build a backdrop at some point, whether it's for a portrait, or just some object you want to take a picture of. And a cool backdrop can really make a difference. Now a fabric store can be a great place to find that backdrop. You can find all kinds of colors, textures, and patterns in here. Things you never would have thought of. There's a couple things about shopping at a fabric store that you want to be aware of. The first is the width of your fabric. Now fabric comes in two standard widths, 45 and 60 inches. So over here, we have a standard 45 inch bolt. It's actually twice the width of what we're seeing here, this is folded in half. And 45 inches may seem like a lot, but if you think of it as a backdrop, just put it behind your head and kind of line it up in the middle, because it's going to be twice this wide.
