Evaluating the final selects from the shoot

So we've seen two houses, two different scenarios, but we've had common elements among the approach for photographing their exteriors. Basically we were always looking for a contextually establishing shot. Something that would place the house in it's environment. And we were also looking for details in the landscaping. That would complete the story. So when Sun was available, they utilize the Sun in order to light the house and to light the foliage, always keeping in mind back-lighting the foliage when I could. When the Sun wasn't available, then we went to glowing the windows of the house because we weren't going to have a sunset behind it. And we also didn't have sun to light the house with. So glowing the windows gives us a really nice approach to the exterior without having that sun element. So following a game plan like this, no matter what the weather or the situation, you'll come home with something you can use.
