I think it's ironic that I spend most of my time as a traveling photographer in traveler mode. But again, that's sort of the goal of being a traveling photographer, to enjoy the trip and the experience of, foremost and to get your pictures where you can get them. But when those moments present themselves to make more interesting pictures, I slip into full-blown photographer mode. I'm not thinking about travel. I'm thinking about developing a picture and making it the best picture that I can make it. This little sea scene at twilight off the coast of Puerto Rico on Vieques is a good example. I might spend a minute or two minutes squeezing off half second exposures to make sure I get one where everything but the waves are sharp. Or it might be something that's compositional. This is the Sultan's palace in Muscat and Oman and this is a compositional thing. I will, instead of just making a snapshot, I will dive into this a little bit, make my line straight.
