Deconstructing an image looking at shutter speed

- I think it's a good idea to break down images into their component parts so you can describe, not just what's going on within the frame, with regards to content and subject matter, but also, how the technical is affecting the communication of the image. This can help you to articulate when discussing the strength and weaknesses of a particular photograph. Take shutter speed; the freezing of movement, or showing the blur with slower shutter speeds that will have a big effect on what and how the photograph communicates. In this image of the diver, you can see what photography does that no other medium does. It really freezes time. The human eye can't see this moment, but a camera with a shutter speed of 1/1000 of a second will be able to freeze it so that we can study it and look at it. But of course, with shutter speeds, the moment becomes particularly important.
