Shooting a personal photo essay

- Some of the most satisfying photo stories I've done are personal projects. And by that, I mean there's no assignment editor giving me a call and saying, "Hey Paul, travel to this country and do a photo story." They're things that are personal to me, and sometimes are my personal life. It's my family, it's my friends, or it's a project that I'm just passionate about and I wanna go do. And what I'd like to do is show you a little bit of the work that I've done that are personal projects that I've essentially self-assigned myself to go do. One of the first ones is a photo essay that I did about my brother who lives in Oklahoma. I live on the east coast, so I don't get to see him that often, and so, sort of self-assigning a project like this also gave me an excuse to go hang out with my brother for a while. I love using my camera and photography to make me go do things that I don't always give myself the time to do, whether it's, you know, going to Congo to photograph gorillas 'cause…
