Welcome

- It feels good to hear nice things about your photos from friends, relatives and fellow photographers, but pats on the back are less useful than meaningful, constructive criticism. Putting our photography out into the world and seeking out opinions and critique we can use to improve and push ourselves forward is essential to our development as photographers. Hi, I'm the passionate photographer Steve Simon and I've been giving and receiving critiques for as long as I can remember and I know that visually literate people, who can articulate their critique of your images, in a way that you can understand and use, are not always easy to find. The most effective way to both give critique and understand the constructive criticism coming your way is to have a grasp of critical thinking concepts, which help you articulate what it is you say about photography and what others are telling you. As a lifelong photographer and educator, I've encountered many photographers who are unsure exactly what makes a great photograph and which of the many images they shoot is the best of the bunch. In this course, I'll help you to develop your visual vocabulary, not only to help you get the most from what other people are saying about your work, but to ask the right questions, to get information you can use to learn and grow as a photographer, ultimately, to make your work better. With critique and practice, you will learn how to strengthen your work and be more confident in making choices, both in the field and at your computer. So let's get started.
