- So I've moved down closer to the shore of the Salton Sea for this setup here. I'm in front of this ruin of an old pier, I guess it was. This used to be a marina area, so there was a lot of boating here. The lake has been receding for many years and it's starting to dry up and nature is kind of creeping back in to reclaim this. So, just that kind of odd mood to this landscape is kind of what attracts me here. And what has attracted photographers here for many, many years. So in terms of this setup here, I wanted to address the idea of exploring alternate compositions because I think in photography a lot of times we're drawn to a scene and we see a really cool setup or location and the lighting is really great, and we want to take that shot. So by all means take that first shot that you're drawn to take and for no other reason to just get it out of your system. But after you've taken that shot, don't move on and go photograph something else. If you have the time, see if you can find…
