Understanding money and tipping when in Cuba

- Money is an important part of any trip, and this is especially true in Cuba, in part because they have two currencies. They have the local currency, which we as travelers don't use, but you have to be aware that it's there, in part because it's not worth nearly as much as the currency that we use, which is called the convertible peso, or the CUC. So when you go to Cuba, let's say as an American traveler, it's not like the airport before you go to Europe, let's say, where you do the exchange at the airport, and then you get there and you have your Euros or whatever you need. With Cuba, you actually go with your American dollars, in this case, and you will have American dollars until you can get, generally speaking, to a hotel, and that's where the exchanges happen, in a hotel. You don't go to the bank, there isn't an ATM that you can use, your bank cards, as of now, as of when I record this, are not good, so you go to a hotel and they have for you there a big drawer of money, and…
