Welcome

(guitar music) - Hi, I'm Sean Duggan and in this course, we'll be exploring night photography in two very different Southern California locations, the strange and surreal shores of the Salton Sea and the desert landscapes of Anza-Borrego. As we explore these two locations, we'll be taking a look at a range of topics designed to help you with your own night photography. We'll be taking a look at some essential gear to have with you in your camera bag. We'll talk about scouting a location in the daylight as well as finding good compositions in the dark. I'll review white balance recommendations for night photography as well as how to determine exposure for night shots, how to focus in the dark, and using multiple exposures to record detail in different areas of the scene. As I'm shooting in these different locations, and at different times of the night, I'll walk you through my creative and technical process for making night photos and I'll also share some useful tips for making images of the night landscape. I really love photographing after dark because things look so different from how we see it in the daytime or even how we experience a night scene with our own eyes. We have some great locations planned and I think we're gonna make some great shots. So, let's get started and see what we can find under the night sky.
