Abstracting your house

- I keep saying that practice is the key to improving your compositional skills, and I believe that. But does practice mean simply walking around and shooting? That certainly doesn't hurt, but the entire world can be a little intimidating as subject matter. You know, where do you start? Assignments are a nice way to give yourself a framework of subject matter and a way to exercise specific parts of your skill set. We've looked at a lot of abstract work in this course, and I hope that upon seeing those images, you found yourself inspired. I think more than any other subject matter, more than amazing landscapes or fantastic portraits or far away exotic travel photos, more than any of those, seeing how simple things can be arranged into pleasing compositions always makes me want to grab a camera and go find something to shoot. So grab your camera! Your goal over the next hour is to come up with 10 abstract images, that's one every six minutes, so you've got time to look closely and move…
