Adjusting exposure compensation

- The exposure compensation command is very useful and very powerful. It will likely become one of your most used options and it's great when dealing with lighting situations that can throw off the camera's light meter, particularly things like really light or dark backgrounds or strong back lighting. This command is great for controlling the overall tone of a photograph and with exposure compensation, you can quickly adjust in fractional or whole stop increments. Now, in most cameras, you'll find an exposure compensation dial right on the camera and if not, it's usually available through a series of buttons or menus. You can see on this camera here, it's right on top, so it's really easy to reach it and not even have to remove your eye from the viewfinder. Simply turn this to change its value. In this case, for example, I'm setting it to negative two, so it's two stops darker. If I turn it the other direction, toward positive numbers, for example, plus two, it's now two stops…
