- We've talked about photos so let's move on to some practical advice when choosing subjects for video and how you shoot that video. First up, make sure you control the focal point and depth of field. This is going to be even more important when shooting video because it's difficult in post production to blur out copyright issues or intellectual property. Controlling depth of field can help you control how many releases you need or blur out branding or other objects that can't be seen in the shot. I also strongly recommend using a tripod or a gimbal to stabilize the camera. A tripod or a monopod are great for relatively stationary shots and a gimbal can help you with moving footage. Be sure to vary the composition for a full range of coverage. Move the camera around, adjust the focal length. This will allow you to tell the story.
