- Every so often, I encounter a photographer who's work is really different from the rest and this is one such case. Hi, I'm Steve Simon, the Passionate Photographer and welcome to another addition of Critique of the Week. Photographer Hakim Boulouiz is one I met, is a person I met in Dubai, actually he was a student of mine, but he was one of those students who I think I learned more from him, than he did from me. He's a photographer, he's a street photographer, and let me just read to you a little bit of his artist statement as I scroll through some of his pictures. I believe that the street is the sum of small moments rather than one general frame. However, every ordinary moment can be transformed into an extraordinary one through the lens. The banal can become the most significant if there is observation, patience, perseverance, composition, and creativity. Each portrait of a city fragment has its own ephemeral language.
