Aperture Priority mode

- If you want complete control over the aperture, take a look at Aperture Priority mode. It lets you adjust things like depth of field, and the camera will automatically select a correct shutter speed. To do this, just press the mode button and change the camera into Aperture Priority mode. You'll see the A up there. Now, I find this mode quite useful when doing this like shooting portraits, and I want to control the background blur. Aperture Priority lets you choose the aperture that the lens supports, and then you can do this using the command dial. So in this case here, as I start to adjust my aperture settings, you see that this lens supports very shallow depth of field of 1.4. It's a prime lens. So now, if we focus on our subject. Let's frame up the shot. And I'll set the focus near the front of the chess board. What you'll notice is that just the front piece is going to be in focus.
