Back light

- A backlight is pretty easy to understand. It's a light coming from the back of your subject and almost always the point of a backlight is to separate the subject from the background. Right now, I'm wearing a gray shirt and at some point my hair went gray. I don't know when that happened. And I'm standing in front of a gray background. I'm just, I'm starting to vanish here. So, we're going to turn on a backlight and I say that, but what we're actually going to do is turn on a couple of lights. We're going to use several lights to serve the backlight role and that's the thing about these lighting roles. It doesn't have to be a single lighting instrument that fills a role. Sometimes your key light might be multiple lights. Sometimes you might need fill lights coming from several different directions. That's okay. For us to get the backlighting effect that we want, we need two different lights. So let's start with the first one, which is, huh everything's backwards. That's the light…
