Building a website can be intimdating

- Designing and building a website can be intimidating, it can be scary, it can seem like it's something that you just can't do, that you might need to hire someone else to accomplish for you. Yet here in this chapter, I want to show you that that isn't necessarily so. Here I want to demystify the overall process. We'll look at how we can develop a logo, how we can prepare our images and design and build the website itself. Now to make this more real, rather than just showing you my portfolio that's already finished, which is chrisorwig.com I want to show you how to create one from scratch. And this is a portfolio that I'm actually going to use. I decided a while back that I wanted to separate out my family photography from my main site, so that it could live on a website and live in one place on its own. And so here we'll look at how we can create the visual identity and brand for this new site. Now I did some brainstorming, and I was thinking about this photography quote that I absolutely love it's by Mark Riboud, He once said photography, it's savoring life, at one one hundredth of a second. And I love that idea, especially when photographing family and kids, it's like savoring those moments that would otherwise just slip away. So I came up with the idea to name the site savoreverysecond.com I purchased the domain name and I'm ready to go. Yet at this point, I do not have a brand and so I want to show you how I'm going to develop a logo for that. We'll look at how we can prepare our images, then of course build the site. All right well what follows is the process of how we can do that and keep in mind this is a primer or an overview, yet the whole point here is to give you some insight into how all of this works, to demystify things a little bit and to also show you that this is something that you can do yourself.
