Changing image format and size
- Your Nikon camera offers several choices on how images are stored on the memory card. You really have two primary choices, JPEG, the Joint Photographic Experts Group, is an excellent, small file size document that's convenient for sharing on the internet or posting directly. However, if you really want to take control of the image and use the full power of your camera, shooting a RAW file in the Nikon NEF format is going to give you a lot of flexibility. Now, the exact file format may vary, new Nikon cameras may use something slightly different or an older camera may as well, but NEF is the most common Nikon RAW format. All right, let's go into the menu for a second and a take a look at our capture settings on the shooting menu and we'll go here to some of this choices at the top. First up is image quality, this allows you to decide what's captured, RAW only, JPEG only, or a combination of both, fine being the highest quality and basic being the lowest.
