Choosing full frame vs. cropped sensor

- When choosing a new camera, one of the many decisions you'll need to make, is essentially what size sensor you want that camera to have. Well, it's not actually that you necessarily care about a specific size, per se, but rather a full-frame sensor, versus a cropped sensor. In a previous episode, I talked about the general concept of a cropped sensor, and how it impacts the field of view that you're capturing. But how do you actually make a decision about whether you should get a full-frame camera, versus a camera with a cropped sensor? Well, to me it's actually a very easy decision, based on your priorities as a photographer. The key question is whether you're more likely to use longer-focal-length lenses, or wide-angle lenses. If you tend to favor long lenses, to really reach out into a scene, and magnify that scene to get a narrower field of view, then you might want to opt for a cropped-sensor camera, because the cropped-sensor camera is really going to amplify the effect of…
