Choosing the right memory card for recording video

- Recording high-quality video requires a high-quality video card. If you skimp on the quality of the card, it can cause the video to stutter, or even outright fail. Remember, some Canon cameras can actually record video at 120 frames per second. These frames are going to be stored in the camera's buffer, and need to get transferred. Now, even if you're shooting at a lower frame rate, it still will fill up the buffer, so there needs to be a place where those frames are going to get written to, and that's generally going to be the memory card. Now, depending upon the camera that you use, it may offer two types of slots. Some Canon cameras offer a SD card slot, and others use a compact flash card, or even a CFast card. It's going to vary depending upon the camera. Make sure you choose a card that's fast enough.
