Choosing the right memory card for recording video

- Capturing high quality video requires a high quality memory card. If you skimp on the card, it can cause the video to stutter or even fail. Your Nikon camera can capture video at 60 frames per second. And newer models, maybe even 120 frames per second. These frames are stored in your camera's buffer, which is a temporary holding place. But those frames need to transfer to the memory card. If you use a slower memory card, it might not be able to keep up. And then it's going to stop recording. Now, to prevent this, I recommend that you use newer, modern memory cards. If you're using an SD card, this is typically going to be something that's an SDHC card, these are going to have faster right speeds, and will keep the video flowing smoothly from the camera to the memory card. Now, your camera may also support Compact Flash or C Fast. If you're shooting high definition video, you need a card that's at least Class 10, with a 90 megabits per second read and write speed.
