Cleaning your image sensor

- One of the greatest benefits of an interchangeable lens camera is the interchangeable lens. But the drawback is, is that it's possible to get dust or debris inside the camera, particularly because the sensor inside the camera is basically a charged plate that can attract particles. Now, a traditional DSLR camera doesn't suffer this fate as much because sometimes the mirror will help protect the sensor. Other times, you have to be mindful of what's happening and really pay close attention. Now, if you're shooting in a dusty environment like a desert, well, this can get particularly problematic, so you want to be careful to minimize lens changes in environments that are hazardous to the camera. But there are a few ways to solve this problem. First up, your camera has built-in cleaning. Just press the Menu button and navigate over to the Setup tab and you'll likely find, on one of the tabs, Sensor Cleaning. Select this. I generally recommend that you leave auto-cleaning on.
