- I've shown you a lot of ways to use a single light to illuminate your subject, but now I'd like to show you how to use a reflector in addition to your single light to reduce the contrast and really create different looks with that one light. So we'll start with this rim light setup, and then we'll move it around to the loop light setup again, and I'll show you how to reduce the contrast on her face. Now, we've had this snoot covering our spotlight just for filming purposes. I'm going to take that off so we get a little more light showing that we can reflect with. Let's turn Tina back towards the camera so we get a little more view of her face to use with the reflector. And the key to using the reflector is simply to put it opposite the light that's shining on your subject. And so right now the light's coming over her right shoulder here, so I'll put the reflector up in front of her left side. And you can see that as I bring that up, it becomes much brighter over here.
