- If you'd like to add WiFi functionality to a Nikon camera, there's a couple of ways of going about it. First up, your camera may have this feature build in. Many of the newer cameras do. If it doesn't, Nikon makes a series of adapters that plug into a port on the camera. It might be the USB port, or it might be a dedicated accessory port. And what this allows for is two-way communication, between the camera and a WiFi equipped smart phone. This is going to allow you to do a couple of different things. First up, it might allow for printing on a network, but one of the more useful things, is that it allows you to actually use their wireless mobile utility app. It's pretty straightforward, so what you'll do is plug in the adapter, or make that you have built in WiFi. Then go into your menus and go to the setup page. Here you'll find an option for wireless mobile adapter, which you'll turn on, or just turning on the WiFi itself.
