- As you're working to build your skill set and understand the industry better, you're going to have a lot of different opportunities to expand your skill set beyond just practicing on your own. To start out, think about workshops that you might take. Always look at a workshop. Obviously you want something that you know well and is most valuable to you, but don't be afraid to take a workshop outside your comfort zone. Taking workshops outside your comfort zone helps push your boundaries in terms of creativity. It also helps you in versatility because something you might learn in a close-up macro course for example, is going to help you later on. Something you might in a lighting course on children and babies even though they couldn't be farther from your goal, might be something that helps you with another client somewhere down the line.
