- I'm a big fan of assigning yourself a personal project. You know, in my own experience, creating a set of pictures as opposed to just a single image is a really powerful exercise in sort of moving forward as a photographer. Hi, I'm Steve Simon, the Passionate Photographer, and welcome to another edition of Critique of the Week. This week, we're going to look at the work of Barb Davidson. Now, Barb's a friend of mine, and she also happens to be a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer. And this little essay that she did in Hyderabad, India is on the community of kushti wrestlers, and this was a self-assigned project for her. She was in the neighborhood, so to speak, traveling in India. She researched and found it. And this set of images was made over a two day period, and I think what I'm underlining here for you guys is that, obviously, the more time you spend on a project, the deeper and stronger it will get.
