- You know, sometimes, when giving yourself an assignment to take a portrait series, often the best posed images, they don't feel that way. They feel authentic and natural. Hi, I'm Steve Simon, the passionate photographer, and welcome to the photo critique of the week. In this episode, I'm going to take a look at a series of portraits by fellow instructor, Paul Taggart, taken of circus performers in Northern California. So, let's take a look at some of the work that Paul did here, and this was a portrait series. Usually what I like to do when viewing work for the first time, since there's only 14 pictures in total here, is I just like to sort of go through them. Get a sense of, kind of, what I'm looking at, and then it makes it a little bit easier to me, to ya know, give you my gut instincts in terms of what's going on.
