- [Steve] You know, I think that often a slight crop or sometimes an extreme crop can really improve the image almost 100% or even more sometimes. Hi, I'm Steve Simon, the Passionate Photographer, and welcome to a new addition of Photo Critique of the Week. And this week we're going to talk about how a crop can really transform an image from good to great or just make an image a little bit better. And whatever the case, if a crop is going to help then I say let's do it. So let's take a look. The first image by Alan Swift of this woman doing kind of a selfie. As you can see, he's captured the Malecon and the woman, but there's also stuff on the left here, which contributes to the image. But I think that with a crop sometimes you can really help the image. And in this case I'm thinking about the background, I'm thinking about the focus on the woman, and even though there's a stranger there, I think in this version it's a little more balanced.
