Depth of field
- If you're experienced with exposure theory, then you know that sensor, or film size, is one of the factors that determines how much depth of field you'll have in your scene. With everything else being equal between two cameras, a camera with a smaller sensor will produce an image with deeper depth of field. Therefore, with their larger sensors, medium-format cameras are going to produce depth of field that's more shallow than what you're used to getting from a cropped or 35 millimeter size sensor. How much more shallow depends on what camera you usually shoot with. There's about two thirds of a stop's worth of depth of field difference between these small, medium-format cameras and a full frame 35 millimeter size camera. In other words, F8 on this, well, on any of these cameras, will exhibit the same depth of field as an F6.4 lens on a full frame camera assuming the same field of view and framing.
