- Let's talk about some of the costs that people always seem to forget, or at least a lot of these on this list. Right off the bat is education. People never remember, how much did I spend on my education to be a photographer. Now it's real easy if you went to a one year school or a two year school or down a four year degree, you know exactly what your costs were. But on the other side of the coin, how many conventions did you go to, how many workshops did you attend? How many webinars, how many online programs did you purchase, did you subscribe to, to help you become a better photographer? So education is something that gets missed all the time. Insurance. Your insurance is critical. You've got to have insurance. You've got to have equipment insurance, because in many cases and in fact, in almost all cases, your home insurance policy does not cover camera gear being used for commercial business application.
