Don't forget to rotate

- I find that many photographers, like people in general, tend to be creatures of habit. Meaning they fall into the same patterns in their photography. For example, I find that many photographers, when they approach a scene, they see something beautiful, they stop right there and capture a photo, either at eye height, if they're hand-held, or at tripod height. Rather than adjusting the overall framing. Finding the higher or lower position, moving left or right, finding some way to change things up. One of the areas where I see that habit very often is that photographers will have a tendency to shoot almost everything horizontally or almost everything vertically. In other words, they're always capturing in landscape mode, or they're always capturing in portrait mode, only changing things up periodically. That can lead to photos that have very similar framing, a similar overall look. That's not necessarily a bad thing. But getting a bit of variety can be helpful. After all, as I like to…
