Dynamic range and medium format

- At the beginning of this chapter you saw me shoot a photo of Josh with this Fuji GFX. What I was after was something that we could use to test the dynamic range capability of this camera. Maybe test is too strong a word, just to experience the dynamic range capabilities of this camera. Right after we finished that, right after we stopped rolling on that movie, some clouds came in and so I shot again, exact same framing, just because then we got much nicer detail in the sky. Here you can see what I ended up with. I dramatically underexposed this shot to bring in a whole bunch of the sky. And in the process ended up with this, just nothing in the foreground. So I'm here in Camera Raw, I have pulled this image straight out of the camera. I have not done anything to it, it is a raw file. Now you may be wondering, well if it's a raw file, how come it's cropped that odd way, because you can't crop a raw file in camera.
