Exploring depth of field

To achieve shallow depth of field in your image you have to open up the aperture on your lens. To compensate for that extra light you also need to increase your shutter speed. The X-T2 has a maximum shutter speed of 1/8,000th of a second, which is pretty fast. But if you're shooting in bright daylight with a really fast lens such as the Fuji 56mm f/1.2 then 1/8,000th of a second may not be fast enough to yield a proper exposure when the lens is fully open. To help with this and to facilitate silent vibration free shooting Fuji included an electronic shutter feature on the X-T2. When you select the electronic shutter the camera switches from the mechanical shutter to simply turning the image sensor on and off very quickly because there are no moving mechanical parts involved when you use the electronic shutter shooting with it is silent and it yields no vibration in the camera. But it also allows for faster shutter speeds. Up to an astonishing 1/32,000th of a second. That's two stops…
