Exploring face and eye detection
- From my own experience shooting, and from watching students in class, I've come to the conclusion that most people either use the basic automatic focus-point selection mode on their camera or they lock the camera on a single point in the center and focus and reframe it as needed. That's usually the way I work and that's only because of habit. Long ago, that's how auto focus systems worked best so that's what I got used to, so I still work that way. There's nothing wrong with working that way but advanced auto focus systems today are now very good at solving a lot of complex focusing problems. Problems that I sometimes screw up. Face and eye detection are great examples of advanced focusing systems that can be a great improvement over simple single-point auto focusing. The X-T2 offers both face and eye detection and in various combinations.
