Exposure blinkies

- When it comes to evaluating the exposure for a photo on the back of the camera, the histogram display can certainly be helpful, but there's another shortcut essentially, to getting a better sense of whether or not you've blown out any highlight details, and that is what is often referred to as the blinkies, that is the highlight warning. And so if I go into the menu here, I can choose, in this case, Highlight alert, and make sure that that is enabled. And then, when I browse an image where I've lost some highlight detail, you'll see that I get the blinkies. I have areas of the photo that are blown out white, but that are blinking to black in this case, so that I get a good sense of where I've lost detail in the photo, in those highlight areas. I can then adjust my exposure. So here, a darker exposure that has fewer blinkies, and then another darker exposure that has very few, almost no blinkies at all.
