- Many of our cameras have very fast frame rates, three, four, five, even 10 or 11 frames per second, but that's not necessarily a substitute for triggering the shutter at exactly the decisive moment. Hi, I'm Steve Simon, the passionate photographer, and welcome to another edition of Critique of the Week. This week we're going to look at a burst of images that I made a summer ago in Brooklyn, New York. And I always like to sort of show you all the images, so you get a sense of what we're going to be looking at. But the idea of capturing sort of a very fast action situation for me it's really important to capture the decisive moment. And that's why sometimes when I have cameras that have a very fast frame rate I'll take advantage of that by photographing a burst of action and then, hopefully, and depending on the frame rate, I will capture that decisive moment. There's two schools of thought though. You don't necessarily have to do a burst of action, you can just wait and be patient…
