Flash and shooting modes

- In this chapter, we're going to be working with built-in flash. I'm talking about the small pop-up flashes that appear on some SLRs, or the internal flash of a point and shoot camera, or the LED flash that's on the back of your cell phone. Your SLR or mirrorless camera may not have a built-in flash, but that doesn't mean that there still isn't much that you can learn from this chapter. If your camera doesn't have a built-in flash, you can still work with your smartphone camera to explore the concepts that we're going to look at here. Built-in flashes are always in automatic mode, and these days, those are always TTL systems. For the first couple of movies in this chapter, I'm going to work with the camera in auto mode, because I don't want you to be distracted by flash exposure theory when I'm trying to explain other concepts.
